Who me??? I've been memed!

Sheri at Shades of Pink tagged me for the Six Quirky Things Meme, here are the rules:
Link back to the person who tagged you
List the rules on your blog
Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of your own
Tag 6 bloggers to complete the meme.

Hmmmm....now something quirky about me? That will be tough, I don't think I am that quirky, just a little on the edge of reality most of the time.

1. I like to eat tomatoes in my cottage cheese. Shocked?

2. I am a serious thrifter. I have a list of things I want to find at a thrift store before I go in. I used to go just to browse, but that got dangerous. If I have to pay full price for something at a regular retail store, I don't like it near as much. The bargain is the only thing that matters. I think it makes me feel smart! LOL!

3. I am particular about the temperature of foods. If my plate gets too cold at dinner, I get up to heat it in the microwave.

4. I have Texas Angst. I feel guilty for not living in Texas any longer. I feel like a traitor of the worst kind! Only Texans will understand this...sorry to all the yankees who read my blog. LOL!

5. Anytime I am sitting I like to prop my feet up. I am just comfortable like that. It may have to do with the fact that I am short, and most chairs are uncomfortable due to my legs not touching the floor all the way.

6. I like all conversations to be wrapped up in a nice neat package. A good summary at the end is a good thing. "Ok, well have fun doing _____ today, and I will call you about ______ later, and tell ______ I said Hi." It just helps me make sure I covered all things I needed to tell a person. See? I am not crazy!

Ok, now for the part I hate: Tagging
Wendy at Fireflies, Frogs and Mosquitos, Oh MY!
Ivy at Hedging My Bets!
Lynn at A Mother's Journal
Kayla at Bristle Ridge Academy
Amanda at The Towne House
Shonda at Hollyhock Hill
Have a happy day!

Father Knows Best

These are mostly for my own amusement. But you may enjoy some of them.

During scripture study:
Dad: "So, what does humility mean?"
Monkey: "It's like...awwww I am sooooo hungry."
Us: LOL!

Speaking about school:
Monkey: "Dad? What was your favorite subject in Kindergarten?"
Dad; LOL!

Monkey: "Daddy did you go to science class when you were little?"
Dad: "Yes."
Monkey: "Cool! What was your favorite subject? Did you digest a pig?"

Storytime with Puppy...

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Mama. She was picking berries with her basket. Then she died! And I shoot the bad guys. The end.

A Little Insomnia...and the Silver Lining

So, I am waking at 3am on a regular basis. I wonder if this will be some prime play time for the new baby, and my body is just getting me ready. I fully believe that the insomnia I experience during pregnancy is simply preparation for all the times I will be waking to feed and comfort new little ones.

I am trying to come up with some quiet ideas to fill this time while my family sleeps. So far, I just eat a healthy snack that hopefully will not cause indegestion when I go back to bed, and I surf the web. Other ideas I have come up with are, read the scriptures, pray, prepare for school the next day, blog, start a load of laundry, and review the budget. I think that would cover most of the things that may keep me up with a racing mind. I am open to suggestions.

I think I am over the gagging from the sinus infection. (knock on wood) However, for some reason, I am experiencing nausea. I usually get a break somewhat during the 2nd trimester, so this is puzzling. I have said before that this is a crazy miracle pregnancy. No tossing of any cookies my whole first trimester, yep, that qualifies as a miracle. This 2nd trimester is not nearly as fun.

I spoke with a friend about it yesterday. She gave me some very reassuring thoughts. She said that all things are for a purpose, and that Heavenly Father knew that I needed to be well the last few months. I needed to be well in order to do my calling at church, and to be more independent while my husband was so busy with school and work. I don't know how successful I have been on the latter, but I am glad I have been able to attend church and teach my YW class and help on Wednesdays in the Young Women program. Now things are lining up where I won't have to do so much at church on Sunday and I will be able to focus on Wednesday nights, and Andrew will be doing school online this next semester. I guess it is ok if I am a little more nauseous. See the silver lining? I am holding on to that.

The children are becoming such better helpers. This summer has been about teaching them to do chores every day, consistently. They are starting to catch on. We will be stepping it up a notch as we begin school in full force next week. Their dad has given them some responsibilities I would not have thought of that are making my life a lot easier. I hardly ever have to do the dishes anymore. That is such a relief. I am happy they have taken ownership of at least this chore. I still remind them, but they do it, and get it done quickly. That is a blessing!

We are preparing for a visit from Andrew's sister and her son next week. We are so excited to have them! Also, I should have a sono appt. next week. Hopefully, the baby will cooperate and we will see clearly if it is a boy or a girl. We have a girl name picked out...guess what we are hoping for??? LOL!

Enjoy your day...I think I can go back to sleep now.

How Can I Be....a beautiful song.

I wanted to share this uplifting song. It talks of the prophets in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for the scriptures, and the examples of all the prophets. So many have lived their lives fully walking in the ways of the Lord, sacrificing all to follow his example. I am so thankful for the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ. This song just puts all those feelings into focus. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Editing to add: I have found the original composer's version of this song on YouTube. It was written by Nela Otuafi. His version is just as beautiful with a piano accompaniment.

Just Ducky or Deep Thoughts by Mouse

Said to her father after dinner.

"Aren't you glad you aren't a duck? 'Cause your beak would be in your face all the time. Anytime you open your mouth, QUACK! QUACK!" (as she pretends her hand is a beak obstructing her view of the world.) Hee hee...I love her!

Sickness - The Aftermath

Well, I have been sick for about a month now. Either nauseated from prenatals, or sinus infection, or just general pregnancy malaise. As I think I am on the upswing, I decided to have a look around the house this evening to evaluate the damage. Um, that was a really bad idea.

I don't think there is even one small corner of my home that is not in severe disarray.

I have been trying to rouse myself a bit each week and oversee a general cleanup. However, the last 4 days I have been simply out of commision. AND my sweet husband has come down with the sinus infection now. So, there is in general, no adult supervision going on around here, and I have awakened to mass mayhem.

I just want to say, "WOW!"

So for the next few days, we will be doing some hard core cleaning. It is going to take all we have, but come Monday...it will be allright...Thank you Jimmy Buffet.
