I have no carpet in my house. I also hate sweeping and mopping, so I put this chore off for incredible lengths of time. So, when I actually get around to doing it, it takes a while.
One thing that came to mind as I swept out behind the refrigerator was, "How much stuff I am willing to pick through to save a lego? Are legos really that expensive?"
They must be, because I will sift through a ton of dirt and cereal and all other matter of yuckiness to save one. Also matchbox cars, marbles, lego men, and pennies.
So many treasures are found on sweeping day it is pretty exciting. If my kids are awake a lot more things are saved from the dust bin, but if they are sleeping..... mwwwahhhaaaahaaahaa into the trash it goes!
What are you willing do dig through the dust pile for?

You know I am with you on the legos! We save every one of them. Yesterday I went on ebay and found two shields for knights kingdom minifigs. Ours got stepped on and broken. I am truly grateful to those who sell on ebay, so I can find that little lego piece we need.
I'll tell you this, one time I think I vacuumed a lego shark tooth. Do you know how small that is? It's a little white dot almost. So I take the bag out of the vacuum and pull all the nasty contents out. Never found the lego! My hands were covered in hair and dust and who knows what else. All for nothing!
At my house the yell goes out...get this lego or it gets sucked up!!! They all come running to save it. Works every time.
I also make the call for polly pocket paraphernalia, clickits (evil girly lego cousins), k'nex, and various other things.

Ahhhhh yes I am a lego saver here! I just rescued two out of my vacuum last week! Justin would be heartsick if one of his beloveds was missing! :)
